Hi folks, wondered if anyone can help me with a map..i have the specialist components 5 port kit. Base map will not run..very rich...plugs black.
I have the carb replacement model. My engine spec is 1293 newly rebuilt ( not run in yet), sw5 cam, stage 3 head..lightened fly, standard rockers, lcb into rc40 single box exhaust. Not looking for extreme power..just trying to get the car running so i can get it to sc.
Incidently they suggested getting it rolling roaded nearer to me...car is im poland...can anyone tell me if this is something that any rolling road tevhnocian could do...or do they need to know the software etc..how does one go about adjusting a map...without the rolling road etc....
Sorry for the questions...no experience in this area, thought the car would at least run with the base maps etc...and dont want to wreck my new engine just trying to get the car to sc...
Any help much appreciated...
Richard

If you want to map it yourself then you'll need a wide band lamda sensor, aem is the one I used and a friend to help as your driving along. When I did mine I also save all the variou maps so it's easier to see what changes you've made. You'll also need a timing gun to ensure the ignition/trigger wheel is set correctly.
Most modern r/r operators are fairly good at using various mapping software, again what I did was to talk to them first and even let them have the program to get familiar with before they saw the car.
Best of luck.

Thank allrounder,
This helps..i dont have the lamda sensor. Guess this is way forward...going to try other base maps from download section to see if any better. How do you find yours to drive?
When you say timing gun..do you mean strobe?

Yes a timing strobe. Had my kit for over 4 years now and wouldn't go back to a carb/distributor set up. Similar spec to yours but with 1310cc. It drives so well, no flat spots and instand throttle response plus good torque and 40+ mpg. Once yours is set up you'll be really pleased I'm sure.

the fact that the spec is similar...? does that mean that your map might help mine run? or is this dangerous to try?

Sc have wideband lambda sensors which are plug & play for 5 port 145 pound delivered, although ive been waiting for mine for 3 weeks now. There still waiting on their supplier.

I could build a copy of my engine and my current map wouldn't be perfect. If you want to try it then I can sent you the file to look at or even try but that's up to you.

Thanks would really appreciate it..just to look...where would one start? With the idle settings?
With regard to timing settings...what would i be looking for...compare timing on the guages from sxtune..with timing at flywheel?

Would you do this via email? Or via message in this forum?

P/m me a email address. As for setting up, I'd wait till you got a lambda/or on a r/r so you can see the effect of the changes.
