Hello

what is the procedure for testing the fuel cut off switch / first inertia switch (48Z044 WQT10001) on the SPI minis ?

it has 3 connectors at the bottom

I have found continuity from the left and right connectors but

if I connect left to middle or right to middle there is no continutity

can I perform other tests?

how do I know that it is working?

can it be bypassed to eliminate it as a faulty item

many thanks for your help

On the rover switches which I think are the same you can unplug the switch and simply bridge the pins.

Cheers

does this switch stop the petrol tank immersed fuel pump or does it stop the fuel some other way

so what I mean is, if the petrol tank pump works then the switch must at least be on

Have you check the pressure?

Yes, on mine it kills the pump when tripped.

Thanks problem solved

all systems are good

the real problem was the 'o' ring in the injector head

So i hit a small bump last night and the Mini died straight away, so i thought its the fuel inertia cut off switch, pressed switch noting, even after many times, checked vac's etc still won't start, too dark to go further and tow home, get in this morning fuel pump primes and she starts up.

Could i have a faulty switch, and does it have to sit for a while before it works again, took the rubber cover off to look at the switch and looks fine, a bit flimsy disc (button). How is the best way to check it and can i eliminate the switch all together, connect all 3 wires on the plug?

1275, SPI, 1992

cheers

Sounds like a loose connection rather than the fuel cut off.
The fuel cut off is mechanical device and you have to reset it if it trips - it's not an auto reset.

Tried it again this morning, fuel pump primes and then it struggled for 2 sec then started, runs and ticks over perfect, i took it for a few aggressive runs round the block and runs fine, checked all connections elec and vac all good, good spray from the injector. restarted it a few times and it start first crank.

It seems that after sitting for a while after cutting out its starts again

is it possible some crap in the tank got sucked through the fuel system, i will have to take it for a longer run as close to my house just in case it cuts out again...
