Hi all,

What size torque wrench's do I need to cover all my '99 MPi's needs, 3/8, 3/4, 1/2, I can't afford all 3 right now so I need to know which is most important? Thanks.

Not to worry, after digging up some old post I figure a 3/8 8-60 should do what I need for the time being.

1/2'' torque wrench would be ideal. :highfive:

size depends on what sockets you have.

what range depends on what work you plane on doing.

I don't advise using a torque wrench at the limits of its gauge.

The most reached for Torque Wrench I have is a Warren & Brown 3/8" Drive. It goes from 10 to 75 ft/lbs, so for engine building and many other tasks that range well covers it.

One thing I do prefer with this one over any 1/2 Drive one is it's lighter and so it gives a much better feel.

Thanks for your replies, I have a better range of 3/8 sockets, the one I'm looking at has a range from 8-60Nm so should cover most my needs after looking through the rover manual, the only things it can't cope with are the following.

Timing gear nuts 90 Nm

Crankshaft pulley bolt 150 Nm

Flywheel to crankshaft - bolt 150 Nm

Flywheel centre bolt 150 Nm

First motion shaft gear nut 200 Nm

Front hub to drive shaft - nut 260 Nm

I don't advise using a torque wrench at the limits of its gauge.

How much room would you give on either end?
