Hi all, could anyone show me how their brake pressure regulating valve is fitted please? MK3 era. I have Cooper S disks, single line brakes etc.

I assumed it was mounted vertically with the inlet facing downwards (there seems to already be a threaded hole in the subframe).. but the book shows it mounted flat. If it needs to be, it'l need some kind of bracket making up.

As per your pictures.

Sure the threaded hole is not for the exhaust mount?

dont think it is an inertia valve just a spring valve so it's orientation is not critical.

We used to mod them so as to change the spring pressure to adjust the shut off pressure.

They are only a pressure valve, so orientation is important as Nick has mentioned.

The bracket etc needed looks to be there. Presently, I see from your first photo, there's a Tee piece fitted where the valve should be. Remove the Tee and the Valve should go in it's place. These should be a hole, about 1" in dia for part of the valve body to go through.

Aha thanks. There's a 1" hole to the left of the current position, must be this. Maybe that's why one brake pipe is bent.

There's no flat bracket though to bolt it on

I can't quite see from your photo, it's a little dark, but I think the bracket is there. The Tee piece is bolted up to it.

If some numby has cut it off, easy enough to fabricate one.

Oops did not notice that is was a T piece in the first photo. Thought it was the regulator as that is where it should be.
