Hi guys!

I came along an alternative for the 3W 5/8 release bearing a while ago while browsing the depths of the internet.
But I can't find it anymore. And, ofcourse, I didn't write it down anywhere..

Does anyone know the name of the bearing? I think it was something with RS in it.
Definately not the 7w bearing 'norml' mini parts suppliers sell.

cheers

Bhahaha,,,, that probably was from me,,,,,

5203RS or even a 5203ZZ would be OK, the difference being the RS has built in seals where as the ZZ is only shielded, then again, the later bearings were only shielded.

These are a true Angular Thrust Bearing, unlike both the 3W5/8 and the 7W5/8 which are only Ball Bearings that can withstand some side loading.

The 5203 series is a metric bearing and so will fit up as a 'floater', ie, not a press fit on to the Clutch Plunger. The factory did this for a while in production. The other thing to be aware of is you will need to modify the Thrust Plate on the Clutch Diaphragm, you'll need to grind out the Centre Hole to around 21 - 22 mm ID just to give some clearance to the Bearing Centre.

A bit of mucking about but at least you end up with a decent Thrust Bearing that'll last longer than you!

Last few 3W5/8 Bearings I bought were just on $100 ea, where as I get the 5203RS's for about $8 ea.

Haha, yep, it was on the moke Forum :)

My 3w5/8 finaly failed ( my dad used this bearing before on the slalom Mini)
I Have a lokal bearing maker, i ll ask him howmuch it would cost to start producing these. If People want to pay 100$ for them I surely should Be able to convince him to Make some at a better price!( Or thats what I hope)

I emailed you through PayPal Ollie ;)
