gradually making 'cosmetic' changes to it. Started with wood rim steering wheel to compliment the walnut dash/panel. Now want to change the handbrake handle but I can't get the damn thing off! Doesn't seem to twist off in either direction (is there a screw thread?) and it won't pull off. Is it permanently bonded to the metal stem?

oh and as to my other post about car security, and my idea of a length of steel chain, one end being padlocked to the seat frame. the other padlocked to the steering wheel. Yes I agree with the replies I received. That ultimately, if someone wants the car badly enough they will take it anyway, but we have to try, anything and everything, And aren't most of these people opportunist anyway.

they can be pretty stuck on as they've probably never been off before, try a bit of compressed air in the gap if you've got it or a bit of wd-40 to lube it.

Nobody really steals minis here in NZ, well not that you hear of.
It's probably cause the young ones these days can't bloody drive one bahahahahahaha!
And it's not a smelly old Subaru or stinky old Evo.
Our car is locked in my workshop every night, which is alarmed and monitored, and when I'm out and about, I'm not normally to far from it, and it's our weekend car not a daily, so not left at the shops or anything.
Try one of those removable steering wheels, kill switch, internal bonnet release can help to etc.

Thank you. Both of you. Will have another go at the getting the grip off the handbrake, As to having my 'pocket rocket' stolen. Fortunately I live in a very small coastal town here in the uk, with a very high profile neighbour watch. How is it possible to 'love' a car. Well I 'love' mine!
