The cluster in my 86 mini city e has actual glass held in by little metal clips. It looks like you have to remove these to get cluster to lie flush with the new dash instrument cluster holder. I also have some instruments which I assume are from a later mini which have plastic covers instead of glass and whilst the two cluster together look to have similar shape/depth etc the turn signal tunnels (which bulbs sit in) stand higher in this one. To get this to sit nicely in the dash I'd have to cut down the indicator tunnels.
Question is are the aftermarket dashboard typically seen on minispares (which I've bought) better suited to a certain instrument cluster/moulding?

Perhaps this should go in another thread, if so apologise. Here are the two clusters I've got and just want to know of anyone has fitted the one with raised indicator tunnels to an aftermarket dash by cutting them down?
The other dash has no glass (well one piece, the other two broke!) as did the the mounting lugs!

Still battling this one, I now have two sets of clocks as pictures show and before I chop down the indicator bulb housing can someone re-assure and confirm that they've fitted either of these two styles of cluster into an aftermarket dash binnacle.

If that makes any sense at all......

My clocks are more or less the same as the top set, single digits on the tacho.

The tubes have been cut down to fit the back of the new facia

Irostoke that is pretty much exactly what I wanted to read, thank you so much! I paid a lot of money for the cluster (too much as is normal in my world....!) so didn't want to get the hacksaw to them without knowing it will work!

Thanks again
