Hi,

My side lights, tail lights and dash lights died the other day. I've traced the problem to the inline fuse on the bulkhead which I have replaced, but as soon as I turn the side lights on it blows. Any ideas as to what could be causing this? It's driving me mad and I can't drive it at night! Cheers for any ideas, James

Dead short somewhere, it'll be a matter of tracing it.

Could try disconnecting the bullet connectors behind the grill which go to the sidelights.

If rear lights work and fuse doesn't blow, then problem is between the grill connection and front side lights.

Could do something similar at the rear, disconnect the lights inside the boot.

This will at least narrow the search.

Disconnect the sidelights at front and rear, now replace the fuse and connect each corner, until you blow the fuse, simple really

Check the positive feed to the side lights at the front have not rubbed through against the headlight bowl.

You will have to take out the headlamp to check and see, but I have known the wire to cut itself against secondary bowl which holds the headlamp. Vibration and being next against the bowl, lets the wire get cut.

Additionally, check the feed wires from the bullets at the front, and make sure they have not cut themselves against the front panel any where.

Check the wires that run into the number plate lamps at the rear too.
