So i've had this A series 1360 engine for a while i got off my dad's friend which he knew nothing about. Tried to run the engine and it did not start, i tested compression and got decent results got spark and fuel. I took the timing cover off with the engine in the car and have found that the engine has a KC643 cam. The timing looks as if its been set to the haynes manual as ive checked and when the cranks woodruff key is at 12 o clock the 2 timing marks are lined up. Am i right in saying that the timing should not be the same as the haynes manual if a kent cam has been installed? Do i need to take the head off and check the lift and possibly order an offset key?

It should Be timed in according to what they specify. But a cam thats Out wont prevent an engine from starting.
I Have an original 643 cam timed in at 108°. Dont know if kent uses anything Different, but I know they changed the profile a bit anyway.
