Hi there, got a mini clubman with 10inch rims, but want to change to 12inch rims. I have a set of 12inch rim from a late model mini. The problem is rear wheels are rubbing with 12inch. Can I use 8mm spacers with ori studs to fix this?

Just fit some later rear brake drums with the built in spacer and the longer studs. They are very cheap and its worth doing it properly.

You'd be better fitting the spacered drums

Don't know why so many appread.Sorry about that. The fronts fits the 12inch just the back tyre is rubbing on the inside. Thought that spacers would solve this problem easily since parts here quite hard to find. :/

mmm, not sounding like a good idea. are you sure the front does fit ? even on full lock with the suspension loaded ??

to be honest if your not going to do it properly then i would leave it alone. the worst that can go wrong... death in a crash !!!

Oh thanks for putting it in words. Lol. I've decided to go with 1inch spacers with longer studs for all four corners.

Using 1" spacers would be dangerous. There is a real risk of the studs failing, not to mention the extra strain on the bearings.

And, you can very adversely affect the handling as you will seriously change the scrub radius at the front.

I'm astounded at some of the advice on here these days.

When BL fitted discs to the front of the Mini the track increased a little, so they added spaced drums to the rear to even up the track (rear still narrower than the front) they also had longer studs.

If your car has non-spaced drums adding spacers or spaced drums and longer studs should do the trick, standard 12" wheels had a lot of inset.

Here's the drum with built in spacer.
