Morning guys!

Looking to fit a simple on/off immobiliser switch hidden away under the dash in my mini, problem being I have no idea how to wire one in (electrics aren't my strong point)

Wondering what the best way of doing it would be?

I used to have one on my old 1275 where the engine would turn over but not fire however I didn't fit that one so I'm unsure how it was wired in, Ideally I'd like this one to do the same.

Any help would be great  :D

You need to add the switch into the coil positive feed, although anybody who really wanted to steal a mini would be able to run a new feed to the coil in seconds.

For better protection cutting power from the battery in the boot would be better, an isolator switch in the boot or a key operated one fitted to the main battery cable

Ah right okay, my thought with still being able to turn the car over is that I'd be able to hear someone trying to turn it over

I'd like to see it take them a few seconds with the amount of clips holding my flip front on!!

Distributor side of coil via switch to earth. When "on" takes quickest route ie your switch and win't start.

Can you get locking clips on that flip front? Try car builder solutions. Bet it won't taken them that long!

Either earthing the dizzy side of the coil or cutting the power to the coil will still allow the engine to turn over and do what you want :)
