Having now heard it, I don't think it's steering rack, it's too frequent for that, though I couldn't quite tell what the road surface was like. Also, it sounds more like a rattle where as the rack tends to be a clunking / dull tapping.

Could be engine steady bushes, or like my 1275 the bracket breaks....
