Possibly not the right thread...

Any one know of any tamper proof or damage proof fuel caps. I have a 1998 spi mini and have had the fuel cap destroyed twice and fuel taken in the last three days. Its an ongoing problem and I'm on my 8th fuel cap! At the point where I don't keep much fuel in the car!

Any help is much appreciated.

Unfortunately you're likely to just end up with a more expensive cap broken, or worse damaged bodywork.

Any one know where I can get a non locking cap. May be the next best option

Change tank to an internal fill one and block the filler off.

But then it might be bust boot lid and bust lock.

You could try something like this:

Doesn't appear to be a locking cap, hopefully will stop the scumbags breaking the filler cap to get to the fuel...

If the thieves are that frequent visitors. I'd fit an internal tank and fill the standard tank with coloured water. At least you'll get your own back.

I just got the full kit off flea/bay for £55.

I too think Alarms and surveillance are better options if you can manage it. A locking cap may be an MoT requirement depending on your car's age.

Maybe you could make a cover to go over the filler that will trip an alarm if removed, magnet and reed switch?

thanks for the help. Decided to get another cap that I will remove at night. they don't seem to touch it when there isn't one on there. Gona keep minimum petrol in there so eventually it wont be worth it. Thought about CCTV but then there is the risk of a smashed window.

Sorry but I would not be leaving the cap off.
