Hi everyone, I have been snooping around here and selling stuff for a while, I have a project of my own and have come to the point where I need to mount and box in a fuel tank I had made. Now as you can see from the pictures it is not complete but I hope you can see how I am planning to do it.

I an planning to completely box in the tank and have the filler neck routed towards the standard filler hole on the outside of the car. Now there is no bulkhead as such and i am wondering whether this may cause a fail on the IVA test.

I find it difficult to find more information about the IVA regulations, so I posted this to try get some other peoples opinions. So feel free to comment what you think? :)

I will try call an IVA tester on Monday to see if I can extract any more information from them.

Many thanks

Rob

Google for the IVA tester's manual. It will explain everything.

I can't easily check right now (using phone) but if I recall correctly, a standard Mini would fail because there is no effective barrier between the box (boot) in which the tank sits and the passenger compartment. The rear bulkhead, for cosmetic reasons, can't be welded up both sides to seal it to the quarter panel, for instance, even if any holes in the bulkhead and parcel shelf were closed. Then you would have to drain and vent it...

I think that is the sort of stuff that you are asking about, and as I said the manual is the best place. It lists what has to be achieved and how it is to be tested or verified.
