Depending on the age of the engine you may have a small removeable steel plate on the flywheel cover.

 

If you have this take it off, and you can use the timing marks on the flywheel rim to set the static ignition timing.

I wouldn't even bother starting it if your car is not ready to roll out the gate. You need to be driving a fresh engine ASAP. Idling will do more harm then good.
