I am looking to get my LCB manifold coated for heat protection and as much BHP and performance gains as possible. Lohen suggest the company Zircotec, has anyone had any experience or know anything about this company?

That is a lot of money for a possible very small performance increase. Is it for a race car where you might gain a few tenths of a second per lap? If not there are better ways to improve performance.

It is unlikely that there is any real gain. In fact the airflow dynamics of the exhaust system are more important and that depends on the engine size, specification and rpm's being used.

A better solution to high under-bonnet temperature can be a cold-air box to feed the carburettors with air from the front grille area, although this has not been proven to be much of an advantage in general. Again, on a race car it might liberate a bhp or two. Nick, do you have any experience with cold-air feed from the front grille?

nope as I will be taking air from the front off the front of the windscreen when I get around to making the reverse scoop.

It depends on your budget. You could either wrap it with some cheap stuff you'll be hacking off in 12 months time as its frayed. Buy more expensive wrap and have something similar happen in a few years, or get it Zircoated. I had my Evo's AMS manifold done and the temperature difference in the engine bay was night and day. I could touch the manifold after the engine was turned off after a blast. Tempted to have it done on the Mini's turbo manifold.

if you wrap an exhaust manifold it'll probably invalidate the manufacturers warranty. how boring am i.

Zircotec are used by F1 and WEC teams.  They have competitors though, who are cheaper.  Plus Zircotec royally screwed up a turbo from an F40 LM not too long ago...could have been rather pricey!

I was going to look at getting my K1200 turbo manifold and down pipe done when its finished, was thinking of using Camcoat. their pricings seem a bit more reasonable

That's more like it, £100 is OK.  I wonder how 'CAM1' compares against a decent exhaust wrap?

I use camcoat for ceranic coating exhausts and teflon/ceramic piston coating. Always had good service.

I've only ever heard of great things about them, they don't only do 'high end' Motorsport.

They're not bad prices (although you have to remember to add VAT). Might give them a go when it comes to (eventually) doing the exhaust.
