Just a quick question,

Just got my pro-motive mini up and running. I noticed its quite loud so I'm going to have to work at sound deadening and rubber mounting my sub frame. My question is in regards to rpm, I feel my engine is revving high for just cruising. Going down the road at 85-90 kmh in 6th my rpm are right around 6000. Is this normal?

I'm also running 13 inch wheels and I believe everything from the pro mo kit is standard an is also an earlier kit.

Sounds about right to me.  Been in a few bike engined Minis, including a couple R1s and I remember them being high revving even at cruising speeds.  Remember they do rev to 11k plus, compare that to a car that say revs to 8k, 50% or 4k cruising revs is normal (think Honda VTEC etc).

I would say that's about right too. I'm on 10" wheels so it always sounds like it's running in a couple of gears lower than it is.
Wouldn't bother with sound deadening unless you're prepared to spend a lot on doing the whole car.
I did the basic areas but to be honest it didn't make much difference.
Just buy some decent earplugs! Worked for me!

Haha fair enough, think I will rubber mount my subframe to cut down on vibration

Tossing around the idea of modifying 2 pairs of ear muffs to accept motorcycle helmet Bluetooth 2nd way communication so i can talk to my passengers

I believe the chain contributes to a lot of the noise along with the general mechanical drone of the engine.
Some form of ear protection makes longer journeys bearable but for a quick blast about I just accept it for what it is - a screaming R1!
