Hi there - I was wondering if anyone could help. I have a 1999 cooper bscc ( auto ) 1.3. My wife picked it up and it was over heating so I found the split in the hose and replaced it. It was also running dry on oil & water, but now I have an issue with it cutting out. The car runs sweet when it's on the move but soon as it comes to a stop , it's like the car loses power / idle and it cuts out. It T hen struggles to start for the first 2-4 attempts, but then she's good to go again. Would be much appreciated if anyone could give advice or help. Many thanks.

you mean the "John Cooper limited edition" of 1999  ?? that's its official title. Made to celebrate 40 years since Coopers first F1 championship win.

so what actually do the letters Bscc stand for.

im loving how people just seem to make up their own names for these cars these days !!!!

actually looking at the photo its the 1998 "Cooper Sports". celibrating Coopers victory in four saloon car championship races in 1968.

im guessing its British Saloon Car Championship then ??? BSCC.

"Cooper Sports" is its official name. only 100 made. launched in April 1998 but im guessing the car in question was registered in 1999.

Just went through the paper work.
So the car is a
1999 Mini Cooper sport bscc Limited addition 1.3 automatic. It's a jap inport registered in the us 7 months ago, 64k on the clock. Just got this small issue with the car other than that's the car is sound with good clean body. Not a speck of rust on the car.

Have to admit I hadn't heard of these before but looking at it they are the japense export version of the Cooper Sport LE, that ties in with it being an auto (and the lack of rust )  and I'm guessing it has aircon as well?  Should be a nice little car

My John Cooper LE had a similar problem and I was told it was the breather pipes but I never got round to replacing them to find out.

Reference the cutting out... You are probably best posting this in the injection technical section. Also try searching in that section too as I'm sure this has been raised before...

Does it actually turn over and try to fire but won't? If so could be an immobiliser issue preventing it from fueling or could be a fuel pump issue

Does it start ok from cold?

Yeah it has air con too. It's a nice little car. It runs really nice turns over first time but toon as you drive for about 20 mins and you come to a stop at lights ect it starts to judder and have a fit. It's like it only dose it when the engin in fully wormed up. Thanks for your replys

I had the same issue with my 1999 Rover Mini SPI (manual). Turns out it was the idle stepper motor.

Yep the BSCC were a Japanese special edition like the UK LE version. The Mighty Car Mods mini is one of those. Here is a nice one...

http://www.goo-net-e...6001/index.html

Being a jap car, it has the MPI block and injection but with SPi fueling. There is a great thread on here somewhere by Sprocket you could use to fault find the issue

As others have said check out vac hoses they go from ecu to manifold and air box too! The ones down the back of inlet are prone to splitting
