Hi guys a friend of mine is looking to get a Bini, and would like to know if there's anything to look out for etc

And before anyone says I know this not a Bini forum blah blah blah

But any advice I can pass on would be appreciated

I have had a number of BMW Mini's but have no experience of the 1.4 Auto, I would try Total Mini Forum which covers BMW Mini's

Like any car, anything can go wrong. The 1.4 was a bit gutless, so expect it to have been worked quite hard and the MINI isn't particularly light weight

A quick google search throws up timing chains snapping but it's the same engine as used in the 207 so parts are easy to come by

I would say like with any car, good service history, HPI check, buy with your eyes. A well looked after car is normally a good car

The Mk2 MINI auto is a conventional automatic gearbox and seems to be reliable.......(unlike the earlier 2001-2006 Mk1 MINI (R50) which was CVT auto and had a high failure rate).
