Pulls from about 2k, and dies around 7k... simular to the 286, only you get fun lower down in the rev band

My car is equipped with the SW5i. Frankly speaking, it does hesistates to pull below 1K rpm. After 1K rpm onward, it pulls smoothly. The SW5i is a camshaft which delivers linear power. Unlike the 286 cam, which gives you big torque suddently....

As for the rods, I assume you are referring to the con rods. I did not have them replaced. Just need to check and ensure they are straight.
As you are probably doing the engine rebuild at the same time, your engine may need a new timing chain anway.... So, maybe you can consider upgrading to duplex timing chain.

con rods
Pushrods you mean ( and no don't need replacing unless excessively worn ) if you conrods are bent then your engines in bits !
As for the choice of cam, there are loads to choose from and your choice will depend on your requirements... The most obvious of which will be the need to get the car through an emissions test at MOT time...
The SW5 is said to be the most MOT friendly when tuned of the performance cams, especially if your vehicle needs to take the cat test. I'm a kent bigget, never used any manufacturer cam, the 276 was a nice road cam, using a 290 at the mo, and that's stunning, but going to try a piper300 in the next build which should be fairly lively.
