Aren't you worried about using a gas stove quite that close to the fuel tank? I'd at least move it to the other side of the table  :proud:

Not unduly but as a precaution I've decided not to have the stove fired up while I'm actually filling the tank sitting in the petrol station - unless I'm really desperate for a cuppa! :D  :D

Looking forward  to proudly taking part in the London to Brighton run next year in a fully sorted and nearly original car!

Erm...  Perhaps a bit optimistic back in November 2016 as I have  quoted myself above , but we did finally make it to Brighton this year.

And only 5 years later than planned!    :D

 - I can blame Covid for some of that delay but also I have to say it was Covid that enabled me to really get stuck in and get the car back on the road.

A mini is never finished but I suppose I can now say 'Mission completed'

Thanks to all my family for their patience. Also everyone on here for their help and support. It really is appreciated.

Cheam 06.45 AM. One or two other rather excellent Minis were also there. :D

Not particularly relevant to anything but thought I'd share this as a moment in my mini's history:

I have been finding that the ride is very harsh on this mini and going over speed bumps makes me worry that the engine is going to drop out.
So I did a bit of investigating and discovered that the front end is running on the bump stops as shown below ( car on the garage floor wit wheels all on)
I hadn't realised it was so low and I'm probably quite lucky it didn't fail the MOT.

The cone springs are the originals, so 33yrs old, and the car has been sitting on them all this time so they haven't done badly.
I think time for a set of new rubber cone springs, hilos, knuckles and a compression tool.

on the basis you're going to remove the suspension arms to replace the cones, it would be a good opportunity to check/renew the pins and roller bearings too if they haven't been done recently
