Hi everyone,

Can anyone recommend a company that can take an original A series rocker cover, and add an additional breather hole to it?
My existing cover is already built to the spec I need, but it's manky as anything and not long left for this world.

Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.
Thnx.

what breathers do you have already? You're better off with them direct to crank case - transfer housing, timing chain cover, tapet chest cover, or if you need to you can install one where the mechanical fuel pump attaches if you have that already blanked off..

it's a similar setup to the standard Swiftune race engine layout.  1 breather coming out of the clutchhousing, 1 breather coming out of the rocker cover, both meeting together and then out to a catch tank under the inner wing.  The only difference between that and the swiftune setup is that the breather coming out of the clutch housing, goes into the rocker cover (inlet), then there is an outlet coming from the back of the rocker cover to a catch tank...subtle difference.  I also have another breather coming out of tappet chest.

However...the query I had was more to do with where to get a rocker cover made up to match what i already have, rather than whether my existing system is correct or not.

Why does everyone keep referring to a breather in the CLUTCH housing? It has happened in several other threads recently. Wrong terminology, which is getting worse, starts with wrong thinking and leads ultimately to serious confusion, wasted money, damage and so on.

The breather is on the TRANSFER CASE. I know it is only the other side of the same casting but it is a very important distinction. Some people vent the clutch housing for improved cooling or a miniscule weight saving, or, and this is a perfectly valid reason, just because they can without ill effect. All cars require a drain hole with jiggle pin. You really do not want either of these features in the transfer case. Nor do you want a connection from the breather system sending oily fumes into the clutch.

As for your problem with the rocker cover, or indeed the timing or tappet chest covers, anyone who is handy with a MIG welder will be able to fit a stub for connecting a hose. An alloy rocker cover may want to be TIG welded for appearance.

Try asking on a more appropriate part of the forum for someone local to you to do a small welding job. Or ask on the MIG welding forum.
