As the title says. We are thinking of moving house early next year and due to getting a bit more for your money we are looking to move to Kent.
Trouble is it would mean I would have to commute across the dreaded crossing every day. I was just wondering if anyone on here does it every day and if it bothers them.
Most of the people I have spoken to have called me mad or stupid saying its a nightmare and I'll hate it, but none of these people have ever actually done it. I was just wondering if anyone had some real life experience of crossing the bridge every day and if it actually is a nightmare or just a pain once in a while.

Cheers all.

Did it for four years (2000 - 2004), and became tolerant. Tonbridge to Enfield everyday!!

It was in a 1982 Mercedes 230E which when allowed, purred......

I always listened to the radio before approaching the A21 junction - Plan B was the Blackwall Tunnel and round the North Circular.

Had the TAG pass which helped at the kiosks, but apparently they've gone now.

Looking back now, from Belgium (& a 500m cycle to work!), I must have been completely bonkers!

I've just finished working for a company in Essex where 2 of the people lived in Kent, I would say 2 out of 5 days there was some type of agro at the bridge/tunnel meaning an extra hour on the journey, personally I wouldn't do that drive for love or money ( and I've turned down a well paying job )

Don't forget that it also depends on what time you go. I believe there's no charge between 10pm & 6am. The M25 is horrible at the best of times, so if you do move, I would be looking to change jobs sharpish.

You might believe that you can hack it, but it would only take a couple of rubbish days or a missed appointment to change your mind. It's not something I personally would risk, but it's of course up to you.

Well I'm a diesel fitter so I work shifts, I start at 6 am and finish about 2 pm. I would be travelling across the bridge I guess about half 5, so I think I should miss traffic that way but I guess I'd get stuck in it coming home. Also I know it only takes one accident or high winds and it's screwed up 🙁.

Well it's only a thought, if we did end up moving I can always put a transfer in for bexley garage and wait for a job to come up I guess

I did the journey for 5years as a shift worker travelling from Kent to Hertfordshire, the crossing was busy leading up to the toll booths (no longer there) and about 2miles up to the bridge. The time of day your looking at travelling you will end up with all the lorrys and vans in the morning racing for the free crossing, and on a Friday and Saturday stuck with all the idea shoppers. Lol.

I no longer do this journey as I got fed up with it

I've got colleagues who've done it for over 4 years.

There's still work going on at the tunnels. The bridge is a lot better so the times you're travelling are going to make life a bit easier.

I work near Dartford and every morning there seems to be delays on the A2 and M25 up to the crossings.
