Hi,

I'm thinking of upgrading my 1994 Mini's brakes.

Presently running standard 2 pot front calipers and disks.

Can I just buy a 4 pot caliper and keep the existing disk?

Do I need to buy both Calipers and matching disks?

The brakes are not too bad my previous Mini had drums all round but I would like them to be a bit crisper.

Any recommendation welcome

Get New std discs and New good pads and run them in properly.
Unless you're running sticky slicks 4 pots wont Help stopping Power, even on 35° days our 2 pod 8.4" brakes could still lock 13" avon slicks

I would also recommend the above. Recently replaced my standard discs and put on some decent pads and have felt great improvement. Mind you my engine is fairly low state of tune. Sorry I have no experience with braided hoses. Also curious.

Braided hoses are a very good idea, along with Kunifer (NOT COPPER!) pipes. There is no downside whatsoever.

But do not use these long rear braided hoses marketed by the usual bunch of incompetent spivs. They are not even an amateurish design like many of their products, are downright dangerous and probably an MOT fail. You need normal size braided rears with the Kunifer pipe from the radius arm bracket to the wheel cylinder.
