Make sure it can't fold under on you.

If that's a road car I wouldn't want to try to drive over some of the speed bumps we have down here!

Why?

And Why?

And, is it going to reduce the cooling effect on the gearbox?

And, why?

Well I wanted to hide the subframe partly from the front of the car, micra engine so no issues with cooling.
The actual lowest part of it is level with the lowest part of my subframe so should have no more issues with speed bumps than I already have.

Wouldn't worry about speedbumps, my chin spoiler is lower to the ground and has less ground clearance aha

Cheers for the opinions tho. I know it's not for everyone. I'm thinking of curving the lower edges to make it less angular

What's the benefit?

It looks like it'll just create more drag

It looks like it'll just create more drag

Forces more air to go over and around the car which are smoother surfaces than underneath the car. Believe it or not it's more aerodynamic than not having one.

So yes it will create drag in beingthere BUT it will likely add less drag than the drag created underneath the car, so overall it will likely be more aerodynamically efficient with it fitted, albeit fitted a bit neater and more even.

Cheers for that photo will16. I was considering doing that front lip part of the air dam and to completely smooth under the engine bay but would have to research that more regarding if it will be an mot issue or cause overheating.

And thanks mini 30. I'm also of the understanding that is I add a lip to the front and make it strong enough then it may create a little downforce too

It will act as a splitter so it will force air to go under or over the dam, rather than the air becoming turbulent on the leading edge.  A good addition to this i would say.  Look up Andy Wallers mini for how an air dam in lovely carbon fibre looks.
