If you're undertaking such a job you really need a Haynes manual. I would ask what your spec and use of the car is going to be though as if you're just changing to high lift rockers on an otherwise standard car you may be disappointed. The standard MG metro cam is a great cam for road use as it is.

You will not gain much unless you have a fully gas-flowed head as well as the so-called 'Stage 1' bits. A better flowing head is the real key to improved performance of an A-series engine.

I have a very much modified full 'FIA Group 2' rally engine and fitting 1.5:1 rockers gave me an extra 2 bhp at 5700 rpm & over with the loss of a bit of low-end torque. Poor return for the cost of the rockers.

Keeping asking the same question will not get a new answer.

You'd be changing the rocker posts. As they're held on with head studs it's best to change the head gasket, so the same procedure as that. You'll also have to watch out for the valve springs binding with the extra lift, so a trial fit with the old head gasket still in place makes sense - the increased ratio has a similar effect on the effective spring rate, so if you do end up replacing the springs don't go for higher poundage ones.

Their main advantage is that they open the valves faster, so they can be more advantageous on a head that doesn't flow as well when the valves are barely open -  though you'd still get a better return from improving the head.

Fitting high lift rockers to MG Metro cam may give it a bit more go at high rpm if it's an early head with the larger inlet valve.

But idle and low speed torque will be affected significantly. Chances are idle will be affected and it will run poorly at low speed unless ignition timing (dizzy advance curve) and carb settings (needle) are both changed.
