Oil Filter Gfe166 Vs Gfe148

They are interchangeable, GFE148 superceded to GFE166 (change of supplier I believe)

I’ve had my 1984 Mini form new and always fitted GFE166 filters up to the point it was abandoned in the garden some 21 years ago.  I'm looking to get the engine started, only to fully assess any damage, and have a job lot of GFE148 filters I picked up of eBay.

 

I believe GFE166 and GFE148 are interchangeable?  Does anybody know the differences?  I do know that Rover stocked both filters when I was running my Mini so GFE166 didn’t supersede GFE148.

Thanks Simon that clears things up nicely.

 

I bought these filters a few years ago, one of those I’ve had a few beers and I’ll bid £10 on that moments.  Pleased I did as I’ve just opened the packages and discovered 5 GFE166 filters and 3 GFE148 filters.  The only difference I can see is the 148 filters specify a 6000 mile replacement requirement and 166 refers you to a service schedule:
