Hi,

I am not sure whether this post should be "problems" or "bodywork/paint". Please feel free to move if better suited to a different area.

I have a mk1 inner column that was covered in rust. I have removed all of the rust, and now have a plain steel inner steering column.

My question is, what/how should I paint/finish this to protect it in the future? Primer and top coat? Just oil?

Any advice appreciated.

Thanks, Rich

They weren't painted originally, but I think much like yourself that it's better to put something on than nothing.

I usually hit them up with what ever rattle can is close to hand.
