Hi.
I introduce myself. my name is Raul and speak from Madrid, Spain. I am an enthusiast mini's, actually I have two (austin mini cooper 1000 mk2 and AUTHI 1000 N mk3) and I've always wanted a mk1. I now presents the opportunity of buying a mk1 for restoration in portugal. the owner sent me photos, documents and plate vin (although this very old and is a little weird ... numbers printed above, not from back to front). VIN number plate matches the document owner. my question is: should have a VIN number stamped on the car body somewhere? You should have some body number stamped on the body? the number body necessary to rehabilitate the car or just with the VIN plate is enough? the car is a austin super seven de luxe 08/1962 (A-A2S7SL-XXXXXX). in the closing cross Bonnet has no number body stamped. only one plate welded to the sleeper laying in large letters "NMP". not what it is but if you've seen pictures on the internet like another car, also Portuguese, who had beaten. The car also has another code next to the VIN plate on the radiator that says "FE32XXXX". The body is just right for this car? as I know which is the number of the body? Please I need your help. I need to confirm that the car is correct before buying. I thank you in advance for your help. thank you very much

The mini does not normally have a number stamped on the body except I believe for North America where it is sometimes on the drivers floor. NMP could be the Portuguese assembly plant identification, and FE stand for Front End

If you have a 'Mini Super' then you have a very rare Mini and should make contact with the Mini Super Register, details in link below:-

The Mini Super was launched with the Mini Cooper in September 1961. However, production of theAustin-Super-Seven-300x201.jpg model started on the 7th June, a month before the Cooper. In some early BMC publicity material both the Super and Cooper were introduced as “Twins”, with the Cooper being described as the “Sports-car version of the Super”.

Introduced as “Austin Super Seven” and “Morris Super Mini-Minor”, They became “Austin Super Mini” and “Morris Super Mini” in January 1962. Generally they are now referred to simply as “Mini Super”

The Super was pure Cooper, both inside and out but mechanically equipped with standard 848cc engine, gearbox and braking system. Inside it had a standard gear lever but chromium plated and a black-faced 90mph speedometer. Outside the Super had a standard Austin or Morris grille which was embellished with extra chrome bars, and standard mini badging.

The Super was deleted after a very short production run, together with the Mini De Luxe, in October 1962, although a few were built for export in November.

The Super De Luxe which followed in October 1962 was really a De Luxe with a few Super/Cooper embellishments.

The Super is now believed to be the rarest of Mk1 Minis.
