How deep is it in?  If not that deep I get a clean scalpel blade and cut the skin above it so I can flick it out easier......needle always hurts me too!!!

I dig them out with either a pin or a baby leatherman blade. Stanleys finest blades often come into play as well. No point in fannying around, dig the bugger out.

sometimes a wipe in the right direction with coarse sand paper drags the splinter out as well

tiny ones are the worst

a bright light over it , helps when digging for it

It's when you get a small splinter in the eye you are in trouble (been there, done that - twice!).

Sometimes a magnet will pull a steel splinter out if it is not too deeply embedded.

worst thing ever - esp when it rusts

I had one ground out with a tiny hand grinder a nurse used - it wasn't as bad as it sounds

and of course she was the prettiest nurse in the hospital - always are when your eye is running like a tap & you are covered in dirt

I had two this week.

I usually resort to the lancet needle used in my diabetes finger pricker thing.

Best thing is that the needles are sterile up until I break the cap open so there is less chance of ever getting an infection.
