Hi all.

The next job is in and this time it's a 1275GT.

This one is not a full restoration. I will be fitting a full new floor including sills, a new toe board, a new boot floor, a new rear valance including closing panels new rear arch tubs and a new rear bulkhead.

The reason being, the entire underside has been patched and patched to a point where it can't reasonably be patched anymore.

Paintwork wise, we will need to repair the lower quarter panels and replace the A panels so both sides will be painted from the waist down so that we can match in the colour.

Obviously the underside and inside will be painted body colour too.

Here is a picture of it this morning after putting it up on axle stands and removing the wheels

And then the strip down began.

First, the bonnet and front end components followed by the exhaust, selector box and then the brake lines were disconnected along with the handbrake cable, fuel line and the tank was removed.

Then the rear subframe came down

It's looking a bit sorry under there

With that out of the way, i turned my attention to the front subframe and engine.

Once i had unbolted the lower mounts on the subframe, I lowered the car down onto a pallet and supported the bottom of the subframe on some pieces of timber and set about disconnecting everything going to the engine.

Then i lifted the shell off of the subframe

And slid the shell away

And then tidied up and put the shell back

Next came the doors, bootlid and glass

And the interior

And then the master cylinders

And that's today over.

Monday, ill finish removing the last few bits that need to come out and then the cutting can begin.

Cheers

Ben

This looks like an interesting project and one I am sure will be getting your usual attention to detail. There were a lot of patches on the floor, it will be nice to see the back of all the previous bodging.

If you want to give me a call or pop down when you are near to wanting it done, we can see where we are and fit you in.

Cheers

Hi Ben,

I'll be watching this with interest and it'll be nice to see it when we come and pick up Jack's mini

JXC Mini GT has made a great choice in getting you to do the work!

Thanks Darren :-)

This one will be a bit of a contrast to yours as the panel list is considerably bigger  O_O

Perfect timing - I'm just in the middle of making extremely heavy weather of replacing the floor and toeboard in my pickup so it will be great to see how a pro does it!
