Hi, As I can't find a section for 'interior trim' - can anyone help here please?

Just about to refit headlining - vinyl 1989 type. All cleaned up now and wondered what adhesive to use.

I don't want to use a spray as they go everywhere ! Evo stick is too thick as I would  like to brush it on the sides and front / back.

Anyone had a good result that doesn't melt the vinyl?

Thanks

Thanks, use guide for Pattex says not suitable for flexible PVC.

Is it spreadable unlike Evo-stick that is like smoothing out horse dung??

:nuke:

I used Everbuild Powergrip double sided tape and it was brilliant.

No flafing about with open time of glue, goes only where you want it and is way quicker.

Best way I could describe it is an extremely strong gel glue, reinforced with a very thin fabric and all on a roll. It comes in a few different widths, I used 5mm.

I was advised to use Evostick Contact Adhesive. Comes in a tin and ScrewFix do it for about £4 for 250ml.
It's a bit messy but I brushed it on with a small brush. Glue both the material and the area where the material is to be fixed, leave for 5 min and then fix together.
I used it to fit a refurbished headlining and it worked brilliantly didn't even need to clamp the headling while the glue set!

I don't know what the factory used but my 1984 model was a right mess.

I hate doing headlinings. With experience of adhesives on other things, I am of the opinion that the suggestion about adhesive tape has much to commend it. Probably no downside. Goes only where you want it. I don't know the particular material suggested, but many of them stick really well.

You have to be carefull not to use the solvent based evo stik as it says not to use it with cellulose paint, i nearly got caught out by this and had to buy the solvent free stuff which was not that great.

All we did was go to a carpet shop, bought an aerosol can but sprayed it into the cap then brushed it on... You have to be quick though as it can go off quick
