Hiya guys pretty much as title says.

Brand new complete wiring loom and brand new stalks. Wiper will only work on first speed and also intermittent but not on fast speed. Is there a common/easy fix ? Or am I best just getting a new motor ?

It's the original to my 83 van, and as there not much original metal did want to keep some original bits if possible

it sounds like the park switch on the back of the wiper motor might be playing up? it sorted out the fast wipe not working on mine. failing that, check the multiblock connector on your new stalk is making a good through connection?

The park switch is a common problem http://www.minispare...|Back to search

and can cause the connector to burn out. http://www.minispare...0A.aspx|Back to

Had to change both on mine.

I had this problem once, and found a sticking brush inside the wiper motor itself. There are 3 brushes in mine: one earth, and the other two for the different speeds.

Two speed motors are effectively 2 motors in one body, afraid I don't recall the colours of the actual wires coming out of the motor, but the fast speed is blue/light green in the loom. The slow speed (also used to park) is red/light green, identify which is which on the motor and you can hook swap their spades on the park switch to test each "motor".

Cheers guys I'll get my self a park switch and try that. All the wiring to the motor itself it fine. As plugged another motor of one of my other minis and that worked.

Will pull it apart the weekend and have a good thanks

The park switch only operates on the slow speed circuit, so if the swapping the park switch cures it there's something else afoot.

Blue is the common earth, yellow is fast, red is slow (and also used by the park function)

Terminal 2 on the park switch works with 8 on the stalk to give you flick to wipe once.

I did think that. As they work fine on intermittent. And when I turn they off slow they park fine.

Will see if the brushes are sticky. As it's not been used for 20 years so was amazed it even worked on slow

Just swap the yellow and red terminals on the back of the park switch so you're using your known good slow wiring with the fast function of the motor.
