I'm trying to get my radio working but it won't fire up. It's getting power but the switched live is 5v and the permanent is at 12v.
Any ideas why this is happening or which bits to check?

Cheers guys I've had a play around with it today and managed to sort it by luck rather than judgement. Pulled some fuses and connections and put them back and its working now.
Lost fuel gauge though now. I hate electrics!

Where are you taking the switched live
from and how are you measuring it?

Switched live at 5v you have a high resistance on the circuit at a connection, assuming you have a good earth point, you may see a small reduction between switched and permanent live in the region of 0.1/2v
My Mk4 has a switched radio live on the left side, have you checked your wiring diagram to see if your model had one.
