I managed to bag a decent gearbox to replace the rather crunchy one fitted to my '91 Cooper (carb), the box looks good but the clutch housing that came with it is scrap. It was wrapped separately and I've only just opened it up and found the damage

Not bothered as it was with a load of other stuff that came with the box.

I've realised that this cover, and probably the box, is off an injection car so my question is - will my old cover fit without a problem?

Thanks in advance

John

that is the transfer casing the clutch housing/wok is something else.

if they are both A+ no issues as long as you don't need the sensor.

Thanks for the speedy help, I can resume the re-build.

Sensor not needed but I'll keep it on the shelf just in case someone else does.

They are indeed, would there be a problem if they weren't?

not really. the breather on it is not open on 998s but it can be fixed.

I wonder if some muppet was trying to remove the flywheel by whacking it through the starter hole?

As above, just checking you had the breather open

I usually get a blunt chisel inboard of the ring gear and give a good few licks, does no damage
