Hi I am after some original parts for my mk1 mini I am after the original advance pipe kit from dizzy to carb it's made of copper and has a bracket from top rocker cover bolt? I am after aswell the original oil pipe that goes to guage? And is there anyone in the Midlands that would fix my original radiator it has rotted away on bottom section is there a place that repairs them? Thanks Tom

If no-one with local knowledge comes up with one, Google or yellow pages for your local radiator repairer. There are many still in existence.

As for the copper, it may have a cylindrical bulge in the middle to damp pressure pulses. I have not seen one for a very long time but it is the sort of thing that can be manufactured, at a cost, if originality really matters. Most people simply use plastic. I remember that the old one screwed on to the distributor with a nut, needing little more than finger torque, but not sure about whether the tube was flared or an olive was used. Can't remember the other end. That would only be because it never gave me any problems (I remember everything that broke), but that was a long time ago.

Maybe try the Somerford Mini web site a look, or give them a ring? They seem to be more knowledgeable than most about odd parts for older models.

Yes, I guessed as much. I was not able to look it up earlier as I was only using the phone. On a PC now. A bit pricey but as you say it is complete.

Oh, and Somerford call the bulge a fuel trap, which I can't disagree with. However it also does damp pressure pulsations and gives some delay to rapid advance changes. Not that it matters, as the complete assembly is needed, as is, for originality. But the later cars with plastic pipe do without it. Make of that what you will. Maybe something unnecessary carried over from the Moggy?
