Hello, I imported a  Rover mini  from japan to here in the states and it won't start. It cranked over and ran fine in japan with no issues. The day before I picked it up the car, the idiots i bought the car from were fooling with the coil and don't know how it went. Now the car won't start. It cranks but wont turn over. These wires are unplugged and I don't want to put them in the incorrect spot.

 

I'm getting spark and fuel. 

This is my first carbureted car so this is a little bit of a learning curve.

 

The green and yellow wires were unplugged.

Sorry, I added a incorrect picture.

Now I don't know if Japanese spec mini's were wired differently but try cleaning the wires properly and double check the colours.

 

if the 'green' wire is actually green/blue, it should be from the temperature sender unit located in the engine block above the alternator.

 

The 'yellow' wire is probably white/yellow and connects the starter solenoid to the coil (+).

Hi,

 

Forgot to mention that being a 1990 model (and looking at the picture) you probably have a ballast wire (pink/white). If the white/yellow wire isn't connected to the coil, you will not be cranking at 12 so probably not enough power to start the engine.

 

Do a search for 'ballast' on the forums as there are plenty of threads on the pros and cons.
