Looking for insurance for my 1994 Mayfair and am getting ridiculous quotes for insurance.
Me:
21
Student
License for 3.5 years
1 year ncd
1 accident no claim

The car:
94 Mayfair 1275
Stage 1 kit
Arches and 12x6 minilites

I only want 1000 miles, was paying 550 a few months ago with admiral, but put the car into storage, now they want 780 for the same policy!

Any suggestions? My age and the modifications mean everyone else is quoting around 1000.

Call Adrian flux get a quote... hit the back of mini mags for specialists and get more quotes. Go back to companies after you have obtained cheaper quotes and ask them to beat it.
This is a normal ritual every year for me now but I usually save around 30% doing this.

Ok thanks, did try Adrian flux they wanted 1000 also, I've never had much luck with classic insurers. Will dig out some mini magazines

Have you looked for quotes without the modifications?  Might be useful to find out whether it's the mods that's putting the price up, or it's just the market at the moment.

It must be frustrating, I'm 'lucky' I couldn't afford my own car at your age and now I'm old enough I'm 'sensible' enough that insurance is dirt cheap.
