For those attending IMM 2017, theres been a change of venue announced and lots of unhappy people (who have booked accomodation, travel, flights, ferries etc)

Due to unprecedented demand, we have changed the venue for IMM 2017.
The new venue is Westport House Estate, Westport, Co. Mayo
This venue will bring the event to a whole new level!

Keep an eye on the website and this page for extra information in the next few hours.

As an event organiser myself on a smaller scale, I can understand that the IMM team wont have taken this decision lightly, but because of the scale of the size of the event and the amount of people travelling, people have prebooked and paid for accomodation, IMM tickets, travel arrangements in advance and that is going to hit them very hard.

The new venue is some distance from the "planned" venue originally, from what I understand.

That's a bit of an understatement, it's the other side of the country. Most are seeing 4hrs+ extra travel.

We were on the verge of booking tickets, accommodation etc.. a couple of months back, not even thinking about going now.

Quite a few comments on FB about this and not all good.

Yup there will be a good reason I have no doubt but as Jordie has said a lot of people will have pre booked accommodation and some of it will not be refundable.

Sort of glad now my car won't be ready, I would have been a tad miffed to say the least. However it will be hard on the organisers as well so not good for them either.

The real IMMers will be there anyway. Seems there are no issues with ferry changes from what I have seen.

Most of the ones I know will be camping anyway.

Wrong time of year for me to be heading that way really.

At least they have posted up the reasons for the move now. Still a shame for the folk who have issues with their pre booked accommodation. Hopefully the organisers can assist.

The backlash last night was terrible. Personally I think it's a good thing, it will now be at a proper camp site rather than in a rugby club field.

I'm looking forward to it.
