I have an A-series 1275 and been trying to purchase a performance dizzy from minispares,

http://www.minispare...|Back to search

I Have already ordered and got sent a dizzy with the fatter dog drive end that I believe fits A+ engine.

The listing states Pre A-plus.

I have had several emails from them and rang them today and they don't seem to understand what I'm after! I have sent back to swap for what fits but they re-funded me instead and dont have a replacement other than an Aldon one.

I have attached the cam drive I have and sure it is A series(pre a plus)

Am I missing something??? did some A series have the fatter drive end?

Am I right in thinking that the Dizzy above I have ordered should fit the drive I have?

Please help as know one at minispares understands what I'm after!!!

You are correct, what you are after is an A not A+.

With a little work though, you could have swapped the Drive Dog on the Distributor that you were sent to an A type and then welded a small bracket to the Distributor Collar (that goes in the block) to take the A+ Distributor Clamp.

What's the Part No. of the Distributor that you were sent (the wrong one)?

They sell for both A Series and A+

I ordered the above link dizzy that states pre A+.

I have sent back now and don't really need to be bothering with swapping ends as they do both types.

It just seems the people I talked to don't seem to understand that they had sent me the wrong one.

The dizzy was boxed with right part number but was obvious the wrong one.

I see. I also see in the link that the distributor that's in that photo in an A+ one, though as you say, the P/N and description is for an A type.

Best bet would be to front at the counter, preferably with an old distributor in hand so they can see exactly what your after or maybe get in touch with Simon via the forum.

Or as you have suggested, go elsewhere.

I did see the other day that A Series Spares now do a range of Distributors.

A case of some one not knowing what they are packing. And no one checking the contents.

There based in London so bit of a trek, But just seems weird they don't get what I'm after.

They do a budget recurved Dizzy for cams upto 276.

Can't afford other possibilities. but this will work with my engine and they state they do for both!

Mini Spares also have branches at York and Oldbury, which are close to you, but still around 2 hrs each way.

Maybe try them again, only send them photos?  If your strapped for cash, I don't think you'll find an alternative. I also know from the distributors I've bought from Mini Spares that they actually what they say they are.
