Putting my order in but dont know which headgasket to get.

I'm looking for a one to fit a 1275 head to my 998 but there's a few types, I see minispares own, a black one that's Payen stamped, and a updated Payen one with a added sealing ring or something.

The last one has a larger compressed volume, does this mean its thicker so will help with the valve clearance issues you could run into?

Thanks

Also I need a 998 hg for my 12g295 head, is this the best to go with? -

Or will this one work?

After I found the head gasket in the 1275 spi head kit to be useless (as in spitting it's coolant out before even running the engine), I fitted a GEG300 and it's been great for the last 6000-7000miles. Only thing with copper head gaskets like this one is that they are less forgiving when it comes to imperfections on the head and block faces. I had just got the head skimmed when I fitted the gasket, and the block face was in good condition.

I am rebuilding my engine now and it looks like the gasket was still doing a good job, I will probably be fitting another one of the same when I get to that stage in the build. The Payen BK450 (although it seems the AF470 has superseded it) is a gasket which many people love and have had success with, so I think you can't go wrong with either. Just make sure if you go with the GEG300 that your head and block faces are in top condition.

Hope that helps,

Cam.

The AF470 is my head gasket of choice, better than the BK450.

Not wanting to start a flame war or anything but why is the AF470 better than the BK450?

The BK 450 doesn't have the rocker feed sealing ring.  It's this reason why the BK450 is recommended for performance engines and alloy heads as the rocker feed sealing ring can cause problems.

Would that cause any issue fitting it to a 998??
