Wouldn't use it as the cars would flex(assuming the lift uses the floor to lift)

The load plates are 800mm long. I'm sure there's more than enough structure in the shell to pevent it flexing.

I have one very similar, bought for when I also had an MG. it was good for that car the outriggers on mine have a range of different size inserts so that you can adjust them depending on the car it's used on. It generally sits on the sill area. I have used it one on the mini and found because of the minimum height I had to raise the car on a trolley Jack to get the tilt lift under the car I also found that because of the shorter wheelbase of the mini it was difficult to raise one end (tilt) the car. It is useable but can be fiddly, although once in use is very stable.

Thanks. To be honest I normally put it up on axle stands, but could do with raising it in one go and having the benefit of additional working space. I want to undertake prevenative maintemence every few months and I've got two Minis and an Austin A30 to do, so its attractive for its ease of use.

I've got one, a blue one that's similar, it spreads the load more than enough to not bend a floor, if your floor's bending on one of these you need a new shell!

I'll look for some pics, takes longer to get it set up but once it is then yes it's much better, you can remove all the wheels for a start!

That's with the tilt ready to tip the rear up, I've had it on the other way in the garage to do the engine/subframe mounts, tower bolts etc and that gives you from the toeboard forward totally clear and quite high, much higher than ramps.

You could swap a rear subframe or weld a floor easily from there.

The cj autos one comes with three sets of bars for the centre section to make three different width, then the runners have some adjustment left and right, about 4 inches I think so you can get it to sit along a suitable area of most cars, failing that a selection of wooden blocks to clear box sections etc would be easy to fashion.

Ramps, where we are going we don't need ramps!

20140108_190622_zpscemro9lk.jpgIt is on the narrowest setting there by the way, that car needed some welding and even on the floors there it didn't even creak.

As RedRuby says, on a mini you will to tip the car over to slide it under, it goes right under my Morris minor though. I have thought about knocking the floor out and dropping it flush at some stage in the future, it goes up and down with a battery drill!
