What is the main function of the large duct which runs from rhs of engine bay, through inner wing and into wheelarch area?
I know the lhs one has ducting all the way to air Vent in dash but the rhs one on my car doesn't go anywhere!

It's the fresh air feed to the heater and the other 'eyeball' on the dash. If your flitch panel has been repaired in the past the connection may have been blanked off.
