Hi folks,

I just got hold of these badboys to put on my 1993 Mini British Open (with sportspack)

Am I going to have a nightmare fitting them, will I have to use spacers or will they just fit? They are 4x101.6 and -7 camber. I have the wide sportspack arches and will fit 175 50R 13's onto them I think (I have these tires already on the current rims on the last pic).

I also have no clue about what -7 camber will do for me? I just fell in love with these (and I also have a bit of a long standing ebay buy it now problem haha.)

Think they will look pretty sweet with the white roof surround and white bonnet stripes.....

Any thoughts?

Cheers!

the -7 is the ET or offset

if you already have 13s then there is a good chance they will be straight replacement.

if not then you may need to make some mods.

Yup, it's already on 13's (with smallish rear spacers).

When I said wide arches, I hadn't seen yours! I guess mine are medium arches then :)

Cheers!

175s will be a stretch - a big stretch .. 185 or 205s would be better.

However I don't think you can get a suitable low profile for a 13" tyre in those widths.....only 175/50.

Your choice but there are many threads on TMF saying why 7x13" wheels are not good on a Mini, unless of course you mainly want them for the 'look'......

185/60R13s available. 205/60R13s are but less 'branded' manufacturers

To fit a 185 section width to a Mini on 13" rims you would need a 185/45 x 13. To fit a 205 section a 205/40 x 13 would be needed. Otherwise the tyre would hit the rear radius arm.

Tyres of that width on a light car like a Mini would be poor in the wet and would not get warm enough to work well in the dry.

I emailed about 20 tire makes to see if any of them would make me 175 50 13  winter tires that I can put on the sports pack wheels as nobody makes that size winter tires. No joy yet.....

I will be keeping them for a while as I think the Swiss MOT folks are gonna go ballistic when they see the new ones. There are a serious amount of rules to pass when adding non-standard rims. Almost to the point that nobody does it. Fingers crossed, but I will certainly let you know if I look to get rid.

Incidentally, the seller John from J&K supplies told me that 175 50 13 was the perfect size for these 7x13 rims...... which would certainly make it easier in the eyes of the Swiss law as less has changed.... gonna talk to my dealer here and see what he thinks can be done.

I certainly don't want to kill the buzz of driving it, at the moment it has super skinny 12" winter wheels on it, and it dances. If the 13's are gonna be a mare to get certified and also kill the ride, maybe I will think again...... :D

Tell me about it...
You should however be able to get a paper from a good tyre fitter to attest of there legality and then have them homologated on the car at you Mot station.
Ask them, they should be able to tell you if possible before you buy some.
