Hey guys,

Got a '91 cooper and want to get a new coil just for a bit of performance, and aesthetics really.

I don't really understand what the difference is between a 1.5 and 3 ohm coil, so could anyone point me in the right direction??

Many thanks

Charlie

I wrote it and it explains which coil cars were fitted with from the factory and which one to buy if you need a replacement, you just see what year yours falls into and buy the coil number listed for that model, you won't get a bit of performance by changing your coil, the standard coil on a standard engine provides all the spark the standard engine needs.

3ohmn are standard 12v coils and the 1.5ohmn coils are the ballasted type for the 9v systems and the O'E Electronic Ignition, they don't interchange, (well not for long :D )
