Which Heater Valve For 1989 Mini 1000

Best Answer alex-95 , 08 February 2017 - 06:46 PM

Either/or. it'll be easier to fit the one that fits to the head as the hoses will be the same, unless the threads are stripped in the head. the plastic ones can be fitted anywhere in the hose as long as the heater control cable reaches it

My 1989 Mini 1000 has had its heater valve removed in the past before my ownership. I wouldl like to replace it but I am not sure which is the correct heater valve. I assumed it would be the classic alloy type used pre-1989 but looking on Minispares site, they list a plastic (free floating) type for 1989.
I have never used the plastic type and I don't know where it should be fitted.
At the moment there is a take off Union fitted to the head, with a hose to the heater matrix. OK for winter but it gets very hot here in Italy.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
