I know it seems a stupid question but do you remove the plastic bit at the end of the arm?
Im pretty clued up and do most of my own work just never seem this before on a pump.

Oh right cheers for that.
Just a bit worrying a piece of plastic that could wear out or go missing!!

Oh dear! I fear that may be another piece of amateurish design.  The original pumps had ground and possibly hardened steel running on the camshaft, just as the tappets do, a well-tried and successful combination. Now tell me this if you can, anyone, just what kind of plastic is genuinely suitable for this application, bearing in mind that it is exposed to oil at close to 100 deg C, plus oil vapour which can be even hotter, aggressive combustion gases, etc, Not nylon, not teflon, not even the king of all plastics, PEEK (which might survive by wearing away the camshaft).

Is this really going to last 100k to 200k miles like the originals? The fact is that fitting some nasty plastic moulding is a lot cheaper than making a proper hardened and ground end on a properly formed lever, rather than a bit of stamped sheet metal. Who cares about the end user?  A plastic cam follower in the distributor, a somewhat less aggressive environment and much more lightly loaded, is good for 6000 miles only....

"If it ain't broke, don't fix it." The original pump was not broke. The backstreet Chinese factory with no quality control was just not able to make them.

It's just a very poor rip off copy, don't buy it. Have a look at the Minispares one, this is a high performance one but they also sell a standard one .http://minispares.co.../AZX1818MS.aspx
