Hi

 

I wonder where is the best point to fit an oil temperature sender? I have a mocal inline unit which would fit in between the oil hose but I wonder which side of the oil cooler is better? Or would you buy an adapter for the sump?

Don't put it in the sump, it's the coolest part of the engine. You need to see it where it's hottest!

well I would be fitting a thermostat in there as well and then fit the temp sender after the stat.

 

that way you will see the temp of the oil going around the engine.

Dsn do a real nice filter housing with sender, got one for my hybrid a+ MPi build

Oil filter housing as measures temp after the pump just before the oil reaches the bearings. DSN one is very nice, although Somerford do a kit which is much cheaper, effectively a sandwich plate that sits under the housing, although this can give issues with clearance between the oil filter and subframe.
