Hi,

Forgive the dumb question...I've had to borrow this wrench and it's completly different to mine, I'm trying to torque up the clutch spring housing@ 22nm where approx should it be set? thank you.

Nowhere as it's not within the working range of the wrench.

it is (in my view) best to be using a torque wrench in the middle of its range rather than the extremes of it range.

 

calibration and checking is good.

 

also I always set the wrench and then check it works against a bolt in the vice.

 

just to check it clicks and get a feel for when it will click.

Confession time - I only use a torque wrench for head studs, main caps, and bigend caps.

 

Everything else done by feel. Has worked fine so far.

22nm is naff all anyway I do my shoe laces tighter

I use one of these:

A bit bulkier than a torque wrench but doesn't need re calibrating...just a new battery and the 4 piece adaptor set means I can use pretty much any ratchet or socket size.

 

Doesn't go to 22nm though.
