Fuel/temperature Gauge

Can anyone recommend a company that can check and refurbish a Nippon Fuel/Temperature gauge. The sender has been replaced although I will redo this as it may still be the fault. I have connected the two wires together and the gauge slowly goes up to full and I do not seem to have a problem with the wiring but the gauge will not go past about a quarter tank. Therefore if I change the sender again and it does not fix it I would like to have the gauges checked to rule them out. So looking for a reliable company's/individual to send the gauges to if required.
Thanks Chris.

Good evening,
There is a chap who reconditions Smiths gauges to a high standard so, i would imagine he would be able to help you out on this one, i think he is still going so if you Google " The Gauge Shop " and message him i am sure he will be able to advise you... good luck.
Your welcome, Neil.

Have you tried with the sender outside of the tank? does it work fully then? would it be catching on the inside of the tank?

I have calibrated my fuel gauge by adjusting the tank sender out of the tank so that it reads empty with a "reserve" of about a gallon left in the tank.. You can then also check that the full reading is actually full. Are you sure you have the correct sender for the gauge in the tank?

Not yet but will try it when I remove the sender. Thanks

Pretty sure it's the correct one, and was got from mini spares, it's for a fuel injection model. Will double check when I remove it. Thanks

How to check
Simple check.... connect the two wires on the petrol tank together, then switch ignition on, if the guage goes full then the sender in the tank is duff, if the gauge still only reads half then it's either the gauge or voltage stabilizer, for it to be the stabilizer the temp gauge will show the same symptoms as the fuel gauge.
Disconect the 2 wires from the sender unit on the tank in the boot. Give them a clean up. Bridge them with some wire. If the needle on the gauge moves (usualy to the full mark) then the fault is most probabley with the sender unit in the tank. Connect them back to the sender unit and it might work as you have cleaned the contacts.
Sometimes the sender unit contains fuel in the plastic part. This has to be emptied.
The sender is easy to replace with the tank in place but you have to have a near empty tank to do it otherwise you will have petrol spilling in the boot.
Good luck
